The first ever University evaluation from the Italian Ministry of Education, Research and Universities (MIUR), and some comments in major Italian Newspapers Corriere della Sera and Repubblica.
University of Trento is in first place and it doubles the score of the second university.

Prof. Gian Pietro Picco receive Best Paper Award at the ACM/IEEE IPSN/SPOTS - Conference on wireless sensor networks
The paper 'Monitoring Heritage Buildings with Wireless Sensor Networks: The Torre Aquila Deployment' authored by Gian Pietro Picco along with colleagues at FBK-IRST and UNITN-DIMS, received the Best Paper Award at the ACM/IEEE Int. Conf. on Information Processing in Sensor Networks (IPSN/SPOTS).

Luca Mottola wins Best Ph.D. thesis award at EWSN'09
Luca Mottola won the Best Academic Ph.D. Thesis Award at the European Conference on Wireless Sensor Networks (EWSN'09), for his thesis 'Programming Wireless Sensor Networks: From Physical to Logical Neighborhoods', advisor Prof. G.P. Picco. More information here.

XML Challenge: un concorso per studenti universitari promosso da IBM
XML Challenge e' una competizione promossa da IBM dedicata a studenti iscritti a universita' italiane che siano interessati ad approfondire le tematiche legate al mondo dell'XML.
Questa iniziativa si rivolge a chi gia' conosce l'XML ma anche a chi si interessa di informatica, di tecnologia dei database o a chi e' in grado di creare brevi video digitali.
In palio ci sono tantissimi premi tra cui Navigatori Satellitari, Playstation III, PC portatili Lenovo. Inoltre, verranno estratte 50 chiavette USB 2GB tra tutti coloro che avranno risposto esattamente alle cinque query del concorso query competition.
Questo concorso della durata trimestrale si conclude il 28 marzo 2009.
